Culver House System

Parents and Families, 

Welcome to Culver! Your family has landed in a very special place. To promote teamwork, character development, engagement, and acceptance for all, we have developed 6 “Houses” at our school. This concept was inspired by the Ron Clark Academy, which is a unique school that promotes high expectations both academically and socially. Every child, teacher, and staff member at our school belongs to one of our unique houses.

Students earn House Points for their houses to work towards a House Party celebration. We will have 4 House Celebrations, 1 per 9-week grading period. Students can earn House Points by following the Ron Clark Essential 55 Rules, such as- responding to an adult when spoken to, making eye contact when spoken to, congratulating classmates, respecting other students’ comments, opinions, and ideas, if you win, do not brag, if you lose, do not show anger, helping those in need, showing excellent manners, and academic achievement. To make this work, it will require consistency of these rules both at school and at home. We hope you will hold your child to these high expectations wherever they go.  

To encourage participation, our students support their house by wearing their house color every Friday.  Students may wear a colored shirt representing their house color or a school spirit shirt that reflects their house.  You can purchase house shirts through the Culver spirit store. There will also be House Spirit Days on our House Party days, when your child can go “all out” and support their house by wearing their house colors. Students can show their spirit by wearing beads, colored socks, tutus, bows, and similar accessories on Spirit Days.

¡Bienvenidos a Culver! Su familia ha llegado a un lugar muy especial. Con el fin de fomentar el 
trabajo en equipo, el desarrollo del carácter, la participación y la aceptación de todos, hemos 
desarrollado 6 “Casas” en nuestra escuela. Este concepto fue inspirado por la Academia Ron 
Clark, una escuela única que promueve altas expectativas tanto académicas como sociales. 
Cada estudiante, maestro y miembro del personal de nuestra escuela pertenece a una de 
nuestras casas.
Nuestras casas son:
• Casa de Uaminifu (Azul) 
 Casa de la confianza y la honestidad.
• Casa de Jukumu (Verde) 
 Casa de la responsabilidad.
• Casa de Heshima (Amarillo) 
 Casa del respeto.
• Casa de Uraia (Morado)
 Casa de la ciudadanía.
• Casa de Kujali (Rojo) 
 Casa de la empatía y
el cuidado de los demás.
• Casa de Haki (Naranja)
 Casa de la justicia y la equidad.
Los estudiantes obtienen puntos para ayudar a su casa a alcanzar una celebración llamada 
Fiesta de Casa. Tendremos 4 celebraciones de Casa, una por cada periodo de calificaciones 
de 9 semanas.
Los estudiantes pueden ganar puntos siguiendo las 55 Reglas Esenciales de Ron Clark, tales 
como:
▫ Responder a un adulto cuando se les habla.
▫ Hacer contacto visual al conversar.
▫ Felicitar a sus compañeros.
▫ Respetar los comentarios, opiniones e ideas de otros estudiantes.
▫ Si ganan, no presumir.
▫ Si pierden, no mostrar enojo.
▫ Ayudar a quienes lo necesiten.
▫ Demostrar excelentes modales.
▫ Alcanzar logros académicos.
Para que este programa tenga éxito, se requiere consistencia en la práctica de estas reglas 
tanto en la escuela como en el hogar. Esperamos que ustedes mantengan estas altas 
expectativas para sus hijos en todos los lugares donde se encuentren.
Para fomentar la participación, nuestros estudiantes apoyan a su casa usando el color de su 
casa todos los viernes. Los estudiantes pueden usar una camisa del color de su casa o una 
camiseta escolar que represente a su casa. También pueden comprar camisetas de las 
casas a través de la tienda de espíritu escolar de Culver. Además, tendremos Días de Espíritu 
de Casa durante las celebraciones, cuando los estudiantes podrán mostrar todo su apoyo 
usando los colores de su casa. Los estudiantes pueden demostrar su espíritu usando collares 
de cuentas, calcetines de colores, tutús, moños y accesorios similares durante estos días 
especiales.
