“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” -Richard Steele

Students are scheduled to visit the library once a week during their Innovation time. Students may also visit the library outside their scheduled class time with teacher permission.

Grades K-2 are allowed to check out one book each library visit. Grades 3-5 are allowed to check out two books each visit.

For information about the library, please contact our librarian, Jennifer Garza  Email Us

“Books are like friends – treat them nicely, and they'll always be there for you (and for others too!)”

Since students visit the library during their innovation block, we encourage students to keep their library books in their backpacks every day.

All books are checked out for a two-week period but may be renewed for another two weeks. Students may not check out new books if the previous ones have not been returned or renewed.

By Lamar C.I.S.D. policy, students are required to pay the replacement cost of any book that is lost or damaged beyond repair. If a student finds and returns a lost book that has been paid for within the same school year, a refund may be given.

Mission Statement

The mission of Lamar Consolidated ISD Librarians is to create a physical and digital environment in which our students, staff, and community can strengthen their natural inquisitive nature, foster a love of reading, and serve as a collaborative resource for teachers and staff in developing and delivering powerful learning experiences across all curricular areas.

Goals and Vision

It is the goal and vision of Culver's Library Media Program to:

  • Provide an attractive, welcoming environment.
  • Provide a well-organized and comprehensive collection that meets the needs of the faculty and student body.
  • Encourage collaboration between the media specialist and faculty to integrate information, media literacy, and technology skill into all curricular areas.
  • Maintain a collection that is continually assessed and plan steps for changes and improvements.
  • Provide additional programming opportunities for students outside of traditional library lessons including coding and Makerspaces
